Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By using EzyCite at ezycite.vercel.app or the EzyCite Google Docs add-on (together, the "Service"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The service

EzyCite is a free tool for searching scholarly literature, organizing a paper library, building citation networks, and inserting citations into Google Docs. Scholarly metadata is provided by OpenAlex. We do not host or distribute the full text of papers.

3. Your account

You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your API tokens confidential. Treat tokens like passwords — anyone with your token can read your library. You can revoke tokens at any time in Settings.

4. Acceptable use

• Do not attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the Service.
• Do not scrape or bulk-download data through the Service in ways that violate our providers' terms.
• Do not use the Service for any unlawful purpose.

5. Citations and accuracy

Citations and bibliographies are generated automatically from metadata. While we aim for accuracy, formatting may contain errors — always verify citations against your institution's style requirements before submission. EzyCite is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, EzyCite is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including loss of data or academic consequences of citation errors.

7. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms. You may stop using the Service and request deletion of your data at any time.

8. Changes

We may update these terms; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
